I had the pleasure of attending and presenting at the Inspired City Summit, the City of Kelowna’s annual full-day conference designed to strengthen the non-profit sector across sport, social development, arts, culture, and heritage, held each spring.
My session...
Successful Grant Stewardship
Securing grant funding is a major task for many organizations, whether for a business, not-for-profit, or a charity; competition for limited dollars will only continue to increase. In this session, walk through the critical elements of a grant stewardship program and learn about the key components of successful grant acquisition: qualifying to apply, organizational readiness, program budgeting, funder stewardship, and compliance and reporting.
But what, exactly, is grant stewardship?
The simple answer: it's the process of managing funds responsibly, maintaining transparency with donors, and ensuring grants align with mission-driven goals.
And, stewardship should include these steps:
- MAKING CONNECTIONS
- ESTABLISHING TRUST
- BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS
- ACQUIRING FUNDS
- FOLLOWING UP WITH ACCURACY AND GRATITUDE

And I highly recommend making plans to attend in 2026.
